Lack of Love

Love has no happy ending, because love doesn’t end at all. If there is an ending then it is not love. In the books The Christmas Carol and Fahrenheit 451 both relationships ended with Mildred being burned and Belle leaving. Scrooge and Montag both had someone they thought they loved, but they just slipped away.

Belle was Scrooges girlfriend at the time and they thought they were each others soul mates.  Big plans they had for when they would get married, but Scrooge had found a new love, for money. The same happened with Montag and Mildred. They thought that they would live a happy marriage then Montag was starting to have an opinion about books. There was a spark of their interests that made them drift apart. Also, Scrooge and Montag both had lost them in the book, but they lost them in different ways.

Montag lost Mildred when he had kept a stolen book and then she was burned. Belle had the choice of leaving Scrooge when he had an addiction for collecting money. Mildred made no choices or changes while Belle did. Another difference was Scrooge I believe had once loved Belle as a teenager. No love was found in Montag's and Mildred's relationship at all.

Love is hard to find nowadays. Forty percent of marriages end in divorce, because people think they are in love or married too young. At least Scrooge and Montag didn't suffer a bad marriage for much longer.

Parents and Melinda

"I bet they'd be divorced by now if I hadn't been born. I'm sure I was a huge disappointment. I'm not pretty or smart or athletic. I'm just like them -- an ordinary drone dressed in secrets and lies. I can't believe we have to keep playacting until I graduate. It's a shame we can't just admit that we have failed family living, sell the house, split up the money, and get on with our lives."

This is found on page.70 in the book Speak. This shows how she feels about herself and her parents. She says that her parents hate her because they are alike. She is nothing but ordinary. She knows it too. She feels like she's is not special and believes that other people believe she is not special either. I'm confused if her parents truly love her or not because they do nothing with her and don't communicate with her. But they want her to get better but the parents are not letting her speak.

Lack of Love

Love has no happy ending, because love doesn’t end. But if it has a bad ending then it’s not love at all. There is no possible way to be unhappy and in love. This sounds a lot like Scrooge in The Christmas Carol and Montag in Fahrenheit 451. They were unhappy and lost their loves in interesting ways.

Scrooge was supposedly in love with a girl. They were in love since they were teenagers. Since Scrooge got interested in money instead of her she left so it wasn’t true love. Montag thought he loved Mildred but he wanted to love Mildred. He didn’t love her because they had different beliefs. She liked the government and Montag was starting to go against it. They both thought they loved someone but once they were out of their lives, they didn't seem to miss them as much as they thought they did.

They both had lost they’re wives to money and then fire. Another difference is Scrooge loved something other than his wife instead of Montag who just was uninterested in her. Also Montag wanted to love Mildred and he tried to, but you can't force yourself to someone. Scrooge just didn’t care about his wife after he was addicted to collecting money.

When you don’t have love in your life you are not happy. Love is hard to figure out but once your find who you love, it's easy to understand.

Fahrenheit 451 Response

"It's a lot of water poured down the spout and out the bottom, and them telling us it's wine when it's not." This was found on page 30 and 31 of Fahrenheit 451. This I believe is telling about people lying about something and lying about it a lot. It is explaining the government at this time I believe because Clarisse, Montag's neighbor, isn't a fan of the government and believes they are telling a lot of lies that affect their future. The lie is how books are felonies and they believe it makes the people think and in this time that is bad.
