"I bet they'd be divorced by now if I hadn't been born. I'm sure I was a huge disappointment. I'm not pretty or smart or athletic. I'm just like them -- an ordinary drone dressed in secrets and lies. I can't believe we have to keep playacting until I graduate. It's a shame we can't just admit that we have failed family living, sell the house, split up the money, and get on with our lives."
This is found on page.70 in the book Speak. This shows how she feels about herself and her parents. She says that her parents hate her because they are alike. She is nothing but ordinary. She knows it too. She feels like she's is not special and believes that other people believe she is not special either. I'm confused if her parents truly love her or not because they do nothing with her and don't communicate with her. But they want her to get better but the parents are not letting her speak.
